We have spent the last two months learning about the lives of polar bears. As we are wrapping-up this unit, each second grader is participating in one of three special activities instructed by one of the second grade teachers. The students had the choice of what they wanted to work on to demonstrate some of what they have learned about polar bears.
Students that are working with me have created scripts in an interview style. They are using these scripts and being recorded in front of a green screen. They will learn how to use technology to remove the green background in back of them and turn it into the polar bear habitat.
The second graders working in Mrs. Filipek’s room are putting their artistic talents and creativity to work. They have made “community” paper that will be used in a story about a polar bear.
The students working in Ms. Trombley’s class have been getting familiar with iPads and exploring the app, “Puppet Pals 2″. They are using this app to relay information about polar bears in their habitat. They will be recording their voices while using the polar bear image as their main character!
We will continue working on these projects next week!

What a great way to end this unit! I love that all the second graders are coming together for these activities!
